MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. — The last weekend before Halloween brings four family outings across Macomb County, from a costumed barnyard in Ray Township and a recreation-center trick-or-treat in New Baltimore on Friday to a trunk-or-treat built for dogs on Saturday and a free Sterling Heights trunk-or-treat on Sunday.

Friday, Oct. 23: Trick-or-treat at the farm. Wolcott Mill Metropark’s Family Trick-or-Treat at the Farm sends families through the animal barns to collect treats, and the Huron-Clinton Metroparks say even the animals will be in costume. Adults are encouraged to dress up, too. The one-hour program is outdoors and mostly a walk on grass or lawn. A 6 p.m. session is listed for Friday, and the Metroparks say other dates and times are available. It costs $5 per child and $5 per adult, with children under 2 free, and preregistration is required by 4 p.m. the day of the program. The Farm Center is at 65775 Wolcott Road in Ray Township; questions go to 586-752-5932. The Metroparks warn that the program fills up fast.

Friday, Oct. 23: Trick or Treat on Washington Street. New Baltimore’s free trick-or-treat runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at the New Baltimore Recreation Center, 52401 Ashley St., Door 3, inside the aquatic center, with more than 70 vendors handing out treats. A $5 wristband opens a special event area with bounce houses, a haunted house, live entertainment and cider and doughnuts, and the first 200 children get a free trick-or-treat bag, according to the event listing.

Saturday, Oct. 24: Howl-O-Ween for dogs. Macomb County Animal Control’s second annual trunk-or-treat runs from noon to 2 p.m. in the Macomb County Public Works parking lot, 21777 Dunham Road in Clinton Township, next to Animal Control. The county lists treats for people and pups, pet costume contests, pup cups, Halloween photos and RJ’s Dog House food truck, plus a fall walk on the Nicholson Nature Trail. Admission is free, but registration is required. The event is for dogs only, and they must be on a non-retractable leash.

Sunday, Oct. 25: Metro Monster Mash. Vibe Credit Union’s free trunk-or-treat runs from 1 to 3 p.m. at its Metro Parkway branch, 2405 Metropolitan Parkway in Sterling Heights, with trick-or-treating, games, music, community partner booths, photo spots and giveaways. A Monster Mash Passport gives extra chances at prizes, and visitors can enter to win part of $5,000 in grocery gift cards. Organizers ask families to bring a food donation, such as boxed stuffing, canned vegetables or pantry staples, for the Thanksgiving drive run by Comprehensive Youth Services, a Macomb County nonprofit.
