TEMPERANCE, Mich. — Temperance Bedford ends its regular season far from home Friday, Oct. 23, taking on unbeaten Grand Ledge on the night Grand Ledge honors its seniors and plays for a 9-0 regular season.

Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Grand Ledge Community Stadium, 820 Spring St., according to Grand Ledge High School’s athletics calendar. The school sells tickets digitally, and the game is listed for streaming on the NFHS Network.

Bedford. The Kicking Mules are 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the Southeastern Conference Red, second in the division, according to MaxPreps. Their only loss came Oct. 16, when Saline won 35-21 to clinch the SEC Red title, as The Mitten Daily reported. Bedford has scored 242 points and allowed 104 in eight games, about 30 points a game on offense and 13 on defense, and is 4-0 away from home.

Grand Ledge. The Comets are 8-0 and 6-0 in the Capital Area Activities Conference Blue, which they won outright with a 28-14 win over DeWitt last Friday, our Oct. 18 story reported. By the scores on the team’s schedule page, Grand Ledge has outscored opponents 340-120, an average of better than 42 points a game. Its closest games were the DeWitt win and a 40-21 opener against West Ottawa; it also beat Holt 56-32, East Lansing 49-25 and Waverly 44-0.

Why it matters. State Champs! Sports Network picked the matchup as one of its 10 Michigan games to watch in Week 9, noting that Bedford is looking to bounce back while Grand Ledge rides the momentum of its DeWitt win. For both teams, it is the last tune-up before the MHSAA playoffs; Grand Ledge’s schedule lists Division 1 pre-district games beginning Friday, Oct. 30.
