Unbeaten Saline visits unbeaten Bedford Friday in a SEC Red showdown
TEMPERANCE, Mich. — Two perfect records meet Friday when Saline travels to Temperance Bedford for a Southeastern Conference Red football game that will reshape the league standings.
Both teams are 7-0 overall and 5-0 in the SEC Red, according to MaxPreps schedules updated this week. Saline sits alone in first place in the league table; Bedford is listed second. The Hornets also carry a No. 9 statewide ranking on MaxPreps.
Saline’s path has been loud. The Hornets have outscored opponents 349-52 through seven games, including a 42-21 home win over River Rouge on Oct. 9 and shutouts or near-shutouts against Skyline, Dexter and Huron earlier in league play. MaxPreps lists Friday’s kickoff at 7 p.m. at Bedford.
Bedford’s résumé is quieter on the scoreboard but just as clean. The Kicking Mules have allowed 69 points all season while scoring 221. Their closest call was a 38-35 win at Dexter on Oct. 2. On Oct. 8 they blanked Ann Arbor Huron 35-0 on the road to stay perfect in the league.
Friday is a home game for Bedford at 8285 Jackman Road. Saline finishes the regular season at Lake Orion on Oct. 23; Bedford goes to Grand Ledge the same night. Neither team has a loss to pad against, so conference positioning and playoff seeding both hang on how this Week 8 matchup breaks.
Schedules and box scores are posted on MaxPreps; kickoff details can also be confirmed through the schools’ athletic offices.
