Things to do near Algonac this weekend: a Harsens Island Halloween party, a library craft and witch hats in Marine City
ALGONAC, Mich. — Families in the river towns of southern St. Clair County have a full Saturday of Halloween events, from an island party to a hat-decorating class in Marine City, followed by a free movie a week later.
Harsens Island Halloween Party: The island’s community Halloween party runs 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, according to the Thumbcoast regional events calendar. The Thumbcoast fall events list places it at Stewart Farm, a state historical site at 2007 Stewart Road. The island is reached by a short car ferry that leaves from just west of Algonac, the farm’s website says. Check the listing for event details before you go.
Halloween Craft for Kids: Algonac-Clay Library, 2011 St. Clair River Drive, hosts a free Halloween craft for children from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, according to BlueWaterParent.com’s calendar.
Witch hat decorating in Marine City: The Mariner, 430 S. Water St., hosts a kids and family witch hat decorating class on its historic stage from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Doors open at 4:30. Tickets are $35 per decorator and include a hat, floral decorations and snacks, according to the Eventbrite listing from organizer RiverSide Gypsy. The class is limited to 24 decorators, and sales are final. Parents who come with a child need a ticket only if they want to decorate a hat too.
Movie matinee, Oct. 24: The Algonac-Clay Library shows “Hotel Transylvania” from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24. Admission is free, and the library serves popcorn, snacks and drinks, BlueWaterParent.com lists.
