Unbeaten Grand Ledge hosts DeWitt Friday with the CAAC Blue lead on the line
GRAND LEDGE, Mich. — The last two unbeaten teams in the Capital Area Activities Conference Blue meet Friday night, when DeWitt visits Grand Ledge for a 7 p.m. game that will leave only one of them perfect in league play.
Grand Ledge is 7-0 overall and 5-0 in the CAAC Blue, first in the division, according to its MaxPreps schedule. DeWitt is 6-1 and 4-0, listed second because it has played one fewer league game. The Panthers finish conference play at home against Okemos on Oct. 23.
The Comets have scored 315 points and allowed 106. They won 46-7 at Everett on Oct. 9, a week after a 44-0 home shutout of Waverly, and their highest-scoring night came in a 56-32 win over Holt on Sept. 25.
DeWitt has been even more lopsided since its lone loss, a 30-17 defeat at Mason on Sept. 3. The Panthers have won five straight, outscoring opponents 348-115 for the season, and closed out a 44-0 home win over Holt on Oct. 9.
The two schedules overlap on four league opponents. Grand Ledge beat Everett 46-7, Waverly 44-0, East Lansing 49-25 and Holt 56-32. DeWitt beat the same four teams 73-25, 58-6, 48-7 and 44-0. MaxPreps’ Michigan rankings list DeWitt 22nd and Grand Ledge 52nd.
Friday’s game is at Grand Ledge High School, 820 Spring St. Grand Ledge closes the regular season at home against Bedford on Oct. 23.
Schedules and scores are posted on MaxPreps. Ticket and game-day details are available from each school’s athletic office.
