JENISON, Mich. — Jenison is still looking for its first OK Red win, and it gets a home game against a neighbor to find one Friday night. The Wildcats (2-5, 0-5) host Grandville (2-5, 1-4) at 7 p.m., according to their MaxPreps schedule.

Jenison has lost five in a row since opening the season with wins at Kalamazoo Central, 27-20, and at home against Forest Hills Northern, 34-31. The skid reached its low point last Friday in a 63-0 loss at Hudsonville, the rivalry trip The Mitten Daily previewed last week. It was the first game this season in which the Wildcats did not score, according to a MaxPreps game report.

Hudsonville’s Wyatt Vanassen ran for 118 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries in that game, the report said.

Before that, Jenison stayed close in two league games, losing 31-21 at Holland West Ottawa and 27-20 to Caledonia. It then fell 37-6 at unbeaten East Kentwood and 34-16 at home to Grand Haven, MaxPreps results show. The Wildcats have scored 124 points and allowed 243.

Grandville has had its own rough October. The Bulldogs beat West Ottawa 32-28 on Sept. 25 for their only league win, then lost 33-28 to Caledonia and 49-0 at Rockford, according to the michigan-football.com conference standings. Their other win came in the opener, 29-28 over Muskegon, and their nonleague loss was 48-21 to Detroit Cass Tech.

East Kentwood (7-0, 5-0) leads the OK Red, with Caledonia and Hudsonville at 4-1.

Both teams have one game after Friday. Jenison closes the regular season at Rockford on Oct. 23, and Grandville plays Grand Haven that night.
