Jenison’s Friday rivalry trip to Hudsonville ends in a 63-0 loss
JENISON, Mich. — Georgetown Township’s Jenison Wildcats headed into a familiar rivalry Friday, Oct. 9, looking for a course correction. MaxPreps listed Jenison at 2-4 after a 34-16 loss to Grand Haven, with the next game set for Hudsonville.
The NFHS Network and Michigan Prep Football both listed Hudsonville vs. Jenison as a Week 7 varsity matchup at Hudsonville High School — a short drive from Jenison and a staple date for Ottawa-Kent Conference fans.
Jenison’s recent results include losses to West Ottawa, Caledonia, East Kentwood and Grand Haven, MaxPreps recaps show. A win over Hudsonville would not have erased the skid, but it would have given the Wildcats a signature neighborhood result before the final stretch toward Selection Sunday on Oct. 25.
MHSAA.com’s Week 6 review kept West Michigan league races in focus after East Kentwood, Grand Rapids Catholic Central and others reshaped the OK standings. For Jenison, the path was simpler: stack points against a rival before the playoff cut line hardened.
