More than 150 dressed-up skeletons line Grand Haven’s streets through Oct. 24
GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — A stroll down Washington Avenue this month comes with company. More than 150 decorated five-foot skeletons are posted around Downtown and Centertown Grand Haven for Bones About Town, according to Grand Haven Main Street, which organizes the display.
Anyone walking by can vote for favorites in three categories: originality, funniest and spookiest. Voting is open daily until noon on Friday, Oct. 23, the Main Street event page says, and looking costs nothing.
The skeletons bow out on Saturday, Oct. 24, with Fall Fest, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. along the downtown and Centertown blocks. Visit Grand Haven’s listing says children can trick-or-treat at participating businesses from 10:30 a.m. to noon, with seasonal shopping and activities for all ages. The festival is free.
Next door in Spring Lake, Pumpkins & Paddles ran Sunday, Oct. 11, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Lakeshore Kayak Rental on Cleveland Street. Paddlers signed up through NORA and chose a launch time, then went dock-or-treating in single or tandem kayaks, or in canoes that hold three or four people, Visit Grand Haven said. Costumes were encouraged.
For a slower stop, the Spring Lake Farm & Garden Market had its Oct. 8 session at Tanglefoot Park from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Visit Grand Haven said, and has one Thursday left this season, Oct. 15, on the same hours.
Updated Oct. 8, 2026: The Spring Lake Farm & Garden Market’s Oct. 8 session has now taken place, so this story notes one Thursday left (Oct. 15).
Updated Oct. 13, 2026: Pumpkins & Paddles in Spring Lake was Sunday, Oct. 11; that stop is now in the past tense. Bones About Town voting (through noon Oct. 23), Fall Fest (Oct. 24) and the last Spring Lake Farm & Garden Market (Oct. 15) are still ahead. The Oct. 8 market note above is unchanged.
Updated Oct. 13, 2026: The summary was updated because the Oct. 11 Spring Lake paddle has taken place.
