A haunted corn maze runs every Saturday night, and Halloween brings three free-or-cheap stops around Grand Haven

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — The Grand Haven area’s scariest Saturday-night stop this month is a cornfield.

Rasch Cherry & Apple Market turns its corn maze into the Haunted Harvest Maze from 9 to 11 p.m. every Saturday in October, according to its listing with Visit Grand Haven. Four nights remain: Oct. 10, 17, 24 and 31.

In daylight, the maze is cut in an America 250 design, with the number 250, the Liberty Bell, “USA,” an American flag and “2026” worked into the field to mark the nation’s 250th year. After dark, its 8 acres fill with what the farm calls “spooky surprises.”

Tickets are $17 for the maze and $8 for a Spooky Hayride through orchards and back trails, or $23 for both. A “scare meter” helps groups choose how frightening a night they want, the listing says. The farm market stays open for cider slushies, doughnuts and apple treats. Events depend on the weather, and the farm posts updates on its Facebook page. Its listed phone number is 616-899-2931.

Halloween itself, a Saturday this year, brings three more options.

The City of Grand Haven will hold its indoor Haunted Haven Trick-or-Treat from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Central Park Place, 421 Columbus Ave.

Across the river, All Shores Wesleyan Church hosts a free Fall Fest Spooktacular from 4 to 6 p.m. at Tanglefoot Park, 312 W. Exchange St. in Spring Lake, with trunk-or-treat, cider and doughnuts, games and crafts for children, and a spot for family photos. The church is asking families to come in costume.

Runners can start the day at Ottawa Sands County Park, 18280 North Shore Drive, where the Haunted Halloween 5K and 10K raises money for the Spring Lake High School boys volleyball team. The race page says the program is pay-to-play and not funded by the school. Two laps of the park’s path around the lake make a 5K, and four make a 10K. There is a prize for best costume, and dogs are not allowed on the course. Registration is on TriSignup.
