Lumen Christi’s 37-point offense visits a Detroit Country Day defense allowing fewer than 8 a game
JACKSON, Mich. — Jackson Lumen Christi closes its regular season with two road games, and the first one sends the Titans’ offense against a defense that has allowed fewer than eight points a game. Lumen Christi (6-1) plays at Detroit Country Day (5-2) at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, in Beverly Hills.
The Titans have scored 262 points in seven games, about 37 a game, and have allowed 140, according to MaxPreps. They have won two straight, most recently 43-28 over Toledo St. Francis de Sales at home on Oct. 9. Their only loss came Sept. 25, 49-7 to Toledo Central Catholic. Lumen Christi is 2-0 in league play and listed second in the Catholic League AA.
Country Day has won four in a row and has given up 53 points all season. The Yellowjackets shut out Westfield Prep 56-0 and Loyola 53-0 and won 3-0 at Detroit U of D Jesuit on Sept. 25. In their last game they beat Cranbrook Kingswood 38-14.
Both of Country Day’s losses came on the road and by a touchdown or less: 19-14 at Swan Valley in the opener and 14-7 at Dearborn Divine Child on Sept. 11.
The two teams share a pair of opponents. Lumen Christi beat U of D Jesuit 45-10 at home on Oct. 2, a week after Country Day’s 3-0 win there. Divine Child, which beat Country Day by a touchdown, is next for Lumen Christi: the Titans play there Oct. 23 in a league game.
Country Day finishes at Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard on Oct. 23. Lumen Christi beat Gabriel Richard 40-10 on Sept. 18.
