WARREN, Mich. — Warren De La Salle’s football team headed into Ohio on Friday trying to stop a slide before the toughest stretch of its schedule. The Pilots (3-3) played at St. John’s Jesuit (3-4) in Toledo on Oct. 9, a week after Orchard Lake St. Mary’s beat them 42-6 in Warren.

That Catholic League game was settled by halftime. St. Mary’s, then 5-1, scored all of its points in the first half, and neither team scored after the break, according to the MaxPreps game summary. It was De La Salle’s third loss in four games.

The season started fast. De La Salle beat Hamtramck 71-6 on Aug. 27 and picked up a forfeit win over Sandwich of Ontario, then lost 31-28 at home to Birmingham Brother Rice and 53-0 at Detroit Catholic Central. The Pilots got back on track with a 17-2 win at Toledo St. Francis de Sales on Sept. 25, according to results posted on Joe Eitel’s Michigan high school football site.

St. John’s Jesuit was struggling to score. After putting up 57 points in its opener, it had managed 30 total during a four-game losing streak that most recently included a 27-6 home defeat to Dearborn Divine Child on Oct. 2, according to MaxPreps.

After Friday, De La Salle comes home for its last two regular-season games. Divine Child, 6-0 and winners of 19 of its past 20 games dating to last season, visits Oct. 17. Central Catholic of Ohio, 5-2, closes the schedule on Oct. 23.

With three games left at the time, the most the Pilots could finish was 6-3.

Updated Oct. 12, 2026: De La Salle won 27-24 at St. John’s Jesuit, MaxPreps results show, and is 4-3 going into its Oct. 17 home game with Divine Child. St. John’s Jesuit is 3-5. Records above are as of the week of the game.
