Warren Fitzgerald, winner of three straight, crosses town to face Warren Cousino on Friday

WARREN, Mich. — Two Warren high schools meet Friday night when Fitzgerald, riding a three-game winning streak, plays at Cousino in a nonleague game. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Cousino High School, 30333 Hoover Road, according to MaxPreps and the GoFan ticket listing.

The records point in opposite directions. Fitzgerald is 5-2 and has outscored opponents 246-78, MaxPreps shows. Cousino is 1-6, has scored 50 points and has allowed 240.

The Spartans’ two losses came in back-to-back Macomb Area Conference Gold games in September, 28-18 to Marysville and 20-13 to Grosse Pointe North, both at home. They have won three in a row since, including a 12-6 home win over St. Clair Shores Lake Shore on Oct. 2 and a 32-24 win over Madison Heights Lamphere last week. Fitzgerald is 2-2 in the Gold.

Cousino’s lone win was a 10-6 decision at Utica Ford on Oct. 2. The Patriots lost 56-6 at Port Huron last week and are 1-4 in the MAC Blue. They have been shut out twice, by Grosse Pointe North and L’Anse Creuse North.

Common opponents: Fitzgerald beat Fraser 41-0 on Sept. 3. Cousino lost to Fraser 22-14 on Sept. 18. Grosse Pointe North beat Fitzgerald by a touchdown and Cousino 38-0.

Next week: Fitzgerald plays at Roseville on Oct. 23. Cousino closes the regular season the same night at Lake Shore, the team Fitzgerald edged by six points.
